American Flag the Acrobat

Post by tomtru »

Well, folks, I had a bit of a hermie mystery for a while there. Shortly after I moved, I got a 55 gallon for my hermies. Among other things, I put a fountain inside. There's a small hole in the lid for the power cord. The other day, I found American Flag suspended from the underside of one of the lids. That baffled me, because the cord is nowhere near where I found her. She did it again a day or so later, but, this time, I caught her in the act. Come to find out, she scaled the power cord, used the inner rim of the lid to grasp with her legs, and scootled long the lid until she'd almost reached the hinge-part. This time, rather than "rescue" her, I left her to her own devices. I figured she'd fall and learn her lesson - and she did. She wasn't hurt, though, so don't worry. But she hasn't done that since! Silly crabbie! :P

Hahaha... they're smart alright! If there's a possible escape route or to mischief, they'll eventually find it.
