Streaking
i got a hermit crab on feb 5 for my 18th birthday. i only have a small plastic tank at the moment. I came home today and he was NAKED! i took out his shell because it came painted and i don't want him to have it because it is unsafe. What to do.. my humidity is at 80% and the temp is 85.

Re: Streaking
Please do read the Crab Care section about streaking. And please give him back the painted shell. Sadly, one does not want a hermie in a painted shells. However, a painted shell is better than no shell at all. It will keep him from becoming dehydrated for now. How many other shells have you offered him?
And you need a proper glass tank. Without more info, it is hard to say why your hermie left his shell, but right now PPS may have a major role in why he is shell less.
