Hello,
My hermit crab of 6 months molted on the surface last Wednesday (he did it while hiding in his little artificial house that I bought for him). He's awake and alert today, and after moving around a bit, he finally plopped himself down in his salt water dish. He's never done this before... is he craving to be immersed in salt water or something following his molt? Should I do something?

Re: Help following a surface molt
Since he is awake and alert, I wouldn't worry. Congratulations on the successful moult!

Re: Help following a surface molt
I agree with Wai, I wouldn't worry. (having surface molters here) Chances are he is just replenishing his shell water to the salinity level he wants. You may see him between the fresh and ocean water a couple of times. Next might be the nutritional food dish!! Congratulations on the molt!!
