Ghost Crab?

I had a beautiful crab that I got at the beach last year. He is very friendly and active. However, every time he molts his color gets lighter and lighter...and it never seems to come back. He is now one solid color (pale light orange). I feed him 4 different kinds of food, which include pellets, flakes, salad, and cookies. I have him in the best substrate - the calcium sand and a "mulch" for crabbies. The temp and hydrogemeter are perfect.

I have two other crabs also. Neither of them seem to have this problem.

Try giving him something with more beta carotene in it like carrots. maybe mix it with a few color enhancing pellets that you can find in the fish section.

Look for a treat called Tetra Baby Shrimp. Kyrie uses it and it worked for her hermit crabs.

oh yeah the baby pink sundried shrimp work great. mine like shrimp alot.

Mine adore shrimp too. They don't have much interest in krill though.

Worm castings also do a great job of darkening up a crabs color. But some are just inherently going to be lighter colored.

mine aren't to crazy about the worm castings but i didn't know they help the color. i'll have to give them some more today.

I hope that Eugene will eat some, Kerri! He needs to get darker. He's incredibly pale. Cute little guy though.

Eugene is like a ghost crab. He needs a tan. I need to find him later he's ben hiding for so long.
