Hi all,
I wanted to bring up the tun shell, which I see no one has mentioned in this forum (using the search bar, please correct me if need be!) 2 of my 3 large crabs that I bought were in tun shells, and I often see the same in other pet-stores. I know that this type of shell is probably the easiest to obtain in bulk in Australia, obviously why it is found in an abundance.
I myself bought a bag of ten tun shells - all different sizes, hoping the crabs would change from their too-small shells, (I have mentioned this before in other topics, sorry if I am being repetitive) however they have not touched any of them, depsite being boiled and rinsed in sea water and being at various places throughout the tank.
I am going to buy some shells from Crazy Crabs in Perth, and I will specify to not include tun shells so I can have some variety, however I am curious to whether any others here have had any experience tun shells.
Thanks, Ginger.

To be honest I'm not really sure if the ones mine like from bunnings aren't that type. I had to google what they were and some of the pictures weren't dissimilar.
Will have to get a photo to see if that's what they are.

It could be that the mouth of the tun shell is too wide for the crab to seal the entrance when withdrawn. I just see larger crabs wearing it in pet stores since there are a lack of other options.

This is what every one of mine bar the littlest changed into from their Petshop shells. Two still wear them the others have changed again to the other type who's name eludes me for a sec. Is this a tun shell?
I have others that are similar but lighter and they ignore those totally.

Just looking at them online again and I think the difference is my ones opening slopes down to more narrow on one side where the ones I googled are the same width on both sides of the opening making a bigger opening.

Yes, appps I actually have some of those shells that you showed as well in my tank - 4 of them. I don't know what they are called... BTW I LOVE your tank and stand - it looks beautiful in the area that you have it in, very light!
