What kind of shell is this?

Post by Salt and Pepper »

What kind of shell is heavy, looks and feels like cement, is tan and round, and has brown and green squigglies on it (natrual shell)?
I love all my hermies! They are all PPs.

It sounds like it could be one of the many varieties of turbo shells. Look here and see if you can find one that looks like it. There are two pages of pictures, so make sure you check both!

The shell doesn't really look like a turbo. I have seen and touched a turbo and they feel smooth like pearl. The shell looks very much so like the one in CrabbyJo's avatar, what shell is that?

Actually, turbos are all kinds of textures. Turbo is just the description of the shell shape. I have turbos that are smooth, rough, and ridged.

The shell in my avatar picture is the natural magpie shell that Mokey came to me in. :)
I think Mokey is now in a smooth, tan turbo, but I have 4 crabs the same size and have lost track of who is who with all the shell changes!
