Ants & Ant Spray

Post by Kttdid »

Hi there.

I caught an entire ant colony moving in to my hermit crab tank. I panicked, removed my crab (yes he is alone with no companion as of recently, but I’m working on that) and placed him in a temporary tank. Then, in my panicked mindset, I sprayed a bunch of Raid ant spray in the tank without thinking about the long term effect.

He has an incredibly nice tank that has taken lots of time and money to set up. Does anyone know how I could wash off the bug spray thoroughly enough to let my crab back into the tank? I will obviously need to replace all the substrate etc but the tank itself and the various decor, how can I wash them properly?

I sincerely appreciate any replies.

Have a look online for ideas, but just by guessing, I’m wondering if detergent could help wash off whatever residue of the spray there is and then rinse thoroughly with some warm water.
