I currently have three Hermit crabs. They came as a group of 6 and 3 died within a month of switching between science 21, the classroom, and my house. They have since settled and have proper and stable tank conditions.
I am taking a week long trip to the beach and would love to take them with me rather than leave them to the care of a pet-sitter. It would also be useful to have them close when seeking out new shells and possibly new friends. The problem is that there will be a 4-5 hour drive. I've heard that hermit crabs get carsick and I don't want to stress them out too much. Their tank and supplies will fit in the car safely. I know that many hermit crabs are sent in the mail, and that many make the trip from the beachy store back home but i'm concerned about the crabs i've grown quite fond of making the round trip.
should I bring them with me?
if so, how long can they stand being in a moving car?
has anyone tried this?

Car sick? Haven't heard that one, but it is stressful to them. The constant movement of their home, which has been stable for so long. There have been crabbers who in the past has had no other choice because they were moving, but not due to a vacation. It is hard to regulate the tanks temp and humidity too. IMO they would be best at home awaiting your arrival back home.
